High Blood Pressure Symptoms
There are many of us who have heard about the benefits of having a normal blood pressure, sometimes from the doctors, sometimes from the medical journals but we all have heard the importance of a normal blood pressure.
Naturally a question comes to the mind regarding the nature of blood pressure and what is meant by the term, blood pressure means he pressure exerted by the blood on the walls of the arteries. The heart pumps the blood throughout the length of the body with great force, as the blood flows through the arteries they apply a great deal of force on the walls of the arteries. This pressure applied by the blood on the walls of the arteries is known as the blood pressure, there can be two type of blood pressure systolic and diastolic. Systolic pressure is the force applied by the blood when the heart is fully contracted, on the other hand diastolic pressure refers to the pressure exerted by the blood when the heart is in relaxed condition.
Blood pressure is very important because of the fact that without it no blood would be pumping in and out of the organs of the body through the narrow arteries. The arteries of the body have expandable walls that are highly flexible, so if by any chance the arteries become rigid or become constricted the blood pressure will automatically rise. Sometimes due to old age the patients may start losing the elasticity in their artery walls, and this paves the way for the rise in blood pressure. As the blood pressure increases, the ventricular muscles pf the heart have to work overtime to pump blood through the narrowed arteries. As a result the heart muscles weaken and finally stop functioning at all.
High blood pressure or hypertension is often referred as the “silent killer” because of the fact that patients suffering form this condition is never aware of their situation in the earlier stages and this condition kills a person slowly.
There are no particular symptoms for this disease of hypertension; most patients do not even recognize that they are suffering from this ailment in the earliest stages. Since there are so few general symptoms of this condition, it is often very difficult to diagnose a hypertensive subject.
Since many of the symptoms associated with hypertension can be caused by various other factors, most patients will not consult the doctor for it and sometimes they may even fail in associating these symptoms to hypertension. Common symptoms of hypertension include nausea, dizziness, headache and blurred vision, frequent chest pains etc.
Most patients even complain that they have the tendency to faint with alarming frequency; some of the patients may even get fatigued very easily.
